Digital Portfolio

This is my Digital Portfolio for Manchester Metropolitan University.

For my intention in my book i am considering a dark and secretive mood. For this image you wouldn't automatically think i'm trying to create a secretive mood because she is facing forward and smiling. To be able to get the mood across I produced a blooch and tissue where i also scratched out her face to show influence the secretive from my original intention.

For this image I have used two different techniques which are very similar to each other. The first technique I have used is the blur tool which can be found in Photoshop. For this I blurred out the whole body of the girl as well as the swing which she is on. It does make the girl a little less obvious but still you can see her because of the clothes she is wearing. As the background is various shades of green. From this is decided to smudge out her face as she is smiling the the original image which was still visible with the blue. Whereas with the smudge it ruined her face. I chose both of these techniques because it doesn't make the girl cente of attention where she was center of attention in the original image.

As this image was also included in the book that I create. Some photos were in black and white and some being in colour as the paper type that i printed on some worked better on the paper in colour. Like this one. You green from became really strong and complimented the surrounding colours. The.The girl in the image is messing about with the ground so that you she isn't center of attention.

In this image a mystery arm is dropping sand. I think this image is quite successful because when I was capturing the image I was able to focus on the arm which made to background out of focus. I think if the whole image was in focus you wouldn't get the same feel to the image.

This image brings out the detail which shows you what is important to the print. The way that the water has rippled gives the image different shades of black. The focus point of this print is the white onto the water, the reason for that is because of the image is dark and at the specific point when i was taking the photograph the sun was shining on the water

In this image there is a lot of texture because of the plants and weeds in the pond which gives the image a lot of variance of tones. You can't really say what is in the foreground and what is in the background because there isn't anything obvious that you would count as been in the foreground. My eyes are first drawn to the plants and looking at the different types they are, as well as the colour difference.

This double exposure print has been create with 2 different images but can be worked out as 3. Everyone reacts different to this image some get confused but some are amazed. The mood of this manipulation is peaceful and reflective because of the way that the background blends into the back of her head.

I printed this image on acetate because it makes the colour become more vibrant, as it allows the colour to shine through. Acetate also brings out the detail in the print. The glossy texture of the acetate is related to the theme of water.

This manipulation is different to a simple combined as i have combined a water image and a tree image. It's not what you would expect to see as a combined image. I feel as if this picture suggests movement in what represents the sky but actually it's just the positioning of the fish in the water. The original image without the water background was really dark the water image made the image a lot more vibrant and eye catching.

For image was the original image where i took the pictures and created and college. Then i editing the photograph on Photoshop to be able to create this technique. The way that the background colour purple fades into the actual image as it makes you think that the image was scanned in like that, and just faded the editing process. The mood that come across from these images is unusual but unique because of the the technique that has been used. Also as the image doesn't fill up the whole page which means that you don't get distracted within the image.

As a whole image this photograph leads you on as you look down the middle of the photo it is never ending. It looks like you can walk for miles, but actually it's only to the end of the trees. I think the way the light shines through gives the photograph a different atmosphere because if there wasn't any light you would like it was a walk way that you don't want to take.

I think this photograph is really effective because of the focus being directly onto the flower. As well as you can see the grain of the flower all around. If I wanted to improve this image I think i'd like to turn the whole image black and white and layer mask the flower.

This photogram has created depth because of the feather producing grey tones, which tells you that the feather wasn't flat to the paper. This photogram was connected with the theme when water meets the land, so i collected land objects to create a photogram with. This print is high contrast print because of the obvious contrast between black and white.
